Groupwork provides greater access to the learning tasks to more students in the classroom with a wide range of academic skills and linguistic proficiency. Productive groupwork increases and deepens opportunities to learn content and develop language and thus has the potential to build equitable classrooms

In the fall of 2014, I collaborated with the HTMCV director and a teacher leader at the school to design and implement a professional learning cycle on using group work to create more equitable classrooms. We developed a cycle of professional development that began October 1st and ended November 19th (though it will continue to be woven throughout professional learning throughout the year).
